Frequently Asked Questions

Pockets of Hope is a campaign of the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and partners to broaden investment in locally-led initiatives that are building a strong and equitable future for Haitian children, families and communities. Our goal is to deepen impact by galvanizing other funders to commit to groundbreaking work in Haiti. The campaign will share effective philanthropic practices; showcase Haitian organizations that are creating and advancing opportunities for children and families through innovative and forward thinking initiatives; and advise on ways to support them in their endeavors.

WKKF has committed $30 million over three years and is calling on other funders to collectively commit another $60 million.

Even if you’re new to Haiti, Pockets of Hope provides a path to meaningful impact and trusted collaboration. We offer onboarding and context grounded in the Kellogg Foundation’s decades of experience in Haiti; introductions to trusted Haitian organizations doing transformative work; and access to a peer network of funders committed to learning and long-term impact.

Pockets of Hope is more than a campaign — it’s a collaborative movement that takes its lead from Haitians, with every initiative designed and driven by local communities. It is proven, built on the Kellogg Foundation’s 50+ years of trusted work in Haiti. And it is strategic, focused on system-level change rather than one-off projects. We envision Pockets of Hope as a catalyst for lasting change, inspiring a global community of funders, partners and advocates to remain deeply engaged with Haiti’s progress and with each other for years to come.

Success also means building long-term, equitable partnerships with funders delivering on commitments, forming sustained relationships with Haitian leaders, and continuing to invest in alignment with local priorities, even beyond the campaign timeline. Meeting our funding target is essential to scaling Haitian-led initiatives and accelerating the transformative work already underway across Haiti. Expanding the circle of support is equally important as bringing in new funders to create a lasting, collaborative movement for change. Above all, success is measured by real, lived improvements in education, economic opportunity, health and well-being for Haitian children, families and communities.

Philanthropic work in Haiti is not only possible but critically important. In many communities across the country, people are farming, running businesses, and caring for their families, despite security challenges. Impact is already happening through Haitian-led organizations that are  continuing the work of local transformation. This is not the time to step back. This is not the time to walk away from friends and leaders.  It is the time to scale what works and deepen our shared commitment to progress. Your support can help strengthen both hope and opportunity across Haiti.
